Servant Leadership at its Best

04 Apr

In life there are so many people who we come in contact with and they play some role in influencing us in a positive or negative way. This past weekend we have seen why so many people follow and trust Orrin and Laurie Woodward. This couple defines servant leadership. From the time we all entered the Woodward’s 9-Acre property on the beautiful coast of St. Lucie Bay Florida, to the time we all left was nothing short of spectacular. As a group of hungry Canadians, we were inspired to come home and serve even more than we have in the past. To watch the Woodward’s serve the whole day, teaching, inspiring, loving on their teams.

Their property, cars, and yacht were all breath taking and stunning, but the most impactful event from the weekend were the people sharing their dreams and goals amongst each other at the “Gazeebinar.” Having Orrin sharing his thoughts and vision for LIFE and hearing Claude talk about the difference we can all make. Watching and hearing grown men share their inner dreams, goals, and struggles strengthen a team. Orrin said when you try to break one pencil with your hands, no problem, but when your start griping a lot of pencils together eventually they become unbreakable even with all your strength. Building communities of people who share a common vision and purpose is much like the pencil example, strength is in numbers.

Raylene said the best part of the day was Laurie and Lana sharing with all the women at the patio table. It was an amazing couple of hours of loving, information, and valuable nuggets to help any woman move forward in all areas of life. Their amazing ways to serve, answer questions, and share stories was incredible. Lana lead the conversation asking important questions that we all needed to hear the answer to, to help with our thinking and our feelings.

To think and know that this amazing couple started out in the community building industry just like we did is so inspiring. Their exceptional rise to the top of the community building industry is by no accident. They are hungry to learn and grow personally even after all their personal success.

I read an article on Phil Jackson and a reporter asked him, “How do you keep your players so motivated to win?” Jackson response was, “When you have the greatest basketball player in the world, out work daily every other player on the team, it’s easy to motivate them, they have the best possible teacher. It’s easy for me.” This example is how I view Orrin and Laurie Woodward, when you have the greatest community builder in the industry out work, out think, out read, out serve, almost all if not all on their team, it’s easy to see why so many are inspired around the Woodward’s to do more personally.

We also would like to personally thank Claude and Lana Hamilton for being such amazing leaders, always out front and believing in us all. Being a great example to follow in this industry, and making this weekend possible for so many.  Check out this video of Claude in action and how amazing he really is: Claude Hamilton – What Voice are you Listening to?

Thank you to the Woodward’s for graciously opening their home and hearts to us all. This experience will be remembered and treasured forever.

Here are some awesome pictures of our weekend at the Woodward’s.

Enjoy and God bless,

My husband and I had the privilege and honour of joining Wayne and Raylene on this amazing trip and we are so thankful for that opportunity. The time with Orrin and Laurie was phenomenal and truly stretched our vision for our family and our Team. It is also very important to note that without the relentless and selfless guidance and support of both Wayne and Raylene, Aage and I would not have even considered running for this goal let alone hitting it! We want to thank you both from the bottom of our hearts for all you do for our team. Our time with Claude & Lana and Laurie & Orrin was more inspiring than we had imagined possible. We feel thankful for their humble and servant manner in the way they lead their team and give of their time. Their example is truly visible and present in how Wayne and Raylene live and serve daily. Thank you to all these wonderful couples.

    Great job Wayne!

The ‘Gazeebinar(s)’ were my favourite of the weekend. Its amazing to sit in with a group of men and listen to them talk about their reasons and passions for pushing forward in order to effect positive change into their lives. I wish that I had been exposed to this culture at a much earlier age. Spines are stiffened in the presence of the bold – and I’ve never been around so many men (yes men – not just males) before. I’m proud of the association and look forward to many more opportunites to share in the future.

Thank you to Orrin/Laurie Woodward for opening up their house and allowing us in to share in what is possible, Claude/Lana for being the phenomenal people and Leaders that they are, and thank you to both you and Raylene for helping enrich my – and other people’s lives.

    God bless

Great post Wayne! Gives me goosebumps recalling the special memories that your pictures remind me of. It was so much fun to get to know people better and spend time around some great leaders. My favorite part was the time when all the guys met at the gazebo to share what motivates each of us to develop our leadership and build communities of people.

As leaders, we have the responsibility of helping more people get around this environment to help stretch their vision and realize the potential of the LIFE organization.

We’ve seen it, now let’s share it!

Excellent post Wayne. Getting to hang out with Orrin and Laurie Woodward and Claude and Lana Hamilton for the day down in Florida was such an amazing experience. To be down there with yourself and Raylene and spend time with our team and have our vision and dreams stretched was just incredible. The LIFE business really can help people achieve all their goals and dreams, but aside from seeing the material possibilities available to us from LIFE (and man they are amazing!), just seeing Orrin’s heart when we were meeting with all the guys was without a doubt the most amazing part of the day. Hearing Orrin and Claude talk about their vision for people and their love for their teams was fantastic.

I want to thank yourself and Raylene for believing in Natalie and myself and for helping us get a vision for our future and for encouraging us to run hard for the goal of getting to Florida. It more then worth the effort

    Thanks again

Its truly inspiring watch all the amazing leaders serve setting the pace and showing us how to become servant leaders ourselves. We all want that life style of not having to worry what day of the week it is and giving up several saturdays in a row knowing you have the rest of the week to accomplish your goals and tasks at hand.

I personally want to thanks the Woodwards & Hamiltons aswell! Alos without the MacNamara’s a lot of us wouldn’t be here either so a special thanks to Wayne and Raylene teaching us how to be servent leaders to follow as well!

Look at Claude’s blog as well another great blog by one Great servant Leader!

This was a fantastic weekend for Rhonda and I !! We were able to experience Orrin & Laurie’s property and all of its peacful aspects. The yacht and the home was inspiring but the humbleness and relaxed environment that the Woodward’s displayed towards the group of people there shows their servant leadership. They truely are a couple working for a purpose bigger than them! Looking forward to more time spent with the Orrin & Laurie, Claude & Lana, you and Raylene and the rest of the winners that choose to associate with other winners!!

I agree completely with what Raylene said. Orrin and Laurie’s house is beautiful. They have all the finer things, for sure. But the very best part of the visit for me was to sit with all those beautiful women. The obvious care from Laurie, Lana and Raylene made me feel comfortable to ask what I wanted to know.

I won’t speak for Lenny but I do know that he was highly impacted by his time with what is the best group of men in our lives.

Thank you all for being such servant leaders.

The experience with Orrin and Laurie Woodward has changed our lives forever. Kathleen and I had no real idea what to expect and yet we were left speechless about how deeply and profoundly we were affected by the generosity of our gracious hosts. The event seemed timeless while we were there trying to soak up as much of humility and servant leadership displayed by the Woodward’s and how they individually made each person there feel like they were the most important person they knew. The time spent with Orrin, Claude, Wayne and the other men at the gazebo has touched my heart and gave me the strength to make positive changes in my life from that day moving forward. The one on one time and general Q & A period with Laurie, Lana and Raylene gave Kathleen the immediate feeling of warmth, respect and admiration for these incredible leading ladies. Thank you, Wayne and Raylene for encouraging us to reach for this opportunity. Thank you Claude and Lana Hamilton for being the most amazing Canadian Leaders and ambassadors and having the vision to be where you are today. Thank you Orrin and Laurie Woodward for not only hosting us at your incredible estate and cruise on the yacht, but mostly for being exceptional people of character, integrity, humility and honesty. We appreciate all you have done and all you are doing!

Servant leadership by three exceptional couples.

    Aage & Kathleen Smies
